VISION

To empower every woman with financial education that encompasses the love, hope & truth of Jesus Christ our Savior.

WHY

This online business has been many years in the making. I first got the vision to help others just after I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior in the Spring of 2001. Before then, I was lost. I can only describe my life before Christ as going through the motions in a darkness, as if I was Dorothy before visiting OZ, living in black and white. Childhood trauma followed by many wrong choices, followed by the wrong crowd and the wrong boyfriends… I was lost. I had been wounded and my scars were so deep that I truly felt that there was nothing left of me that was good.

Knowing Jesus changed everything for me. I realized then that knowing Jesus changes everything for everyone. My life started over, but my past was not erased. My past was re-written. Instead of being ashamed of every wrong I had committed, I was taught that every single person makes mistakes and that Jesus came to set us free from the burden of guilt. We can’t change what we have done in our past, but with Jesus, we can move forward into a NEW future that is not dependent upon our abilities as individuals. We live as Christians! We live for Christ because He died for us! And knowing that, is what sets us FREE!!!

That Spring in 2001: At 19 years old, with all the street smarts I had, I was completely oblivious as to how I was supposed to be a normal person. By normal, I mean living a life that wasn’t dependent upon escaping a trauma or being caught up in drama too intense for a reality TV show. Normal was not something I had ever known, but what I did know, was that if I could be set FREE from my world of darkness, then others could to. If I could go from feeling loveless, to feeling so loved by God then others could to.

This was not a religion, this was not a class I took or a book I read. This Jesus Christ guy is real! He came to me when I asked Him to, and He filled my heart like nothing else could.

Little did I know that accepting Jesus as my Savior and surrendering my life to Him that Spring, would start me on a journey toward becoming a Christ-Focused Financial Planner.

Coming from a family that struggled financially I knew what it was like to go without. I knew what it was like to be evicted for not paying rent, to get your car repossessed for not making the payments, to have the water shut off when the bill isn’t paid. I knew what all of this was like before I turned 14 years old. By the time I was 16 I knew what it was like to sleep outside, to befriend homeless people and learn their stories of how they ended up that way. I met people who struggled with severe mental illness that was undiagnosed that caused them to not be able to hold a job. I met many underage girls who would rather sleep outside with grown men they barely knew protecting them, than go home to family.

I remember meeting Christians who would work on the streets and show love and compassion to those who hated God for their suffering. I met Christians who offered resources without asking for anything in return, and I remember not understanding why they would do something like that.

As a new Christian at 19 years old I went to some of the old friends I still knew, and I told them about Jesus! Some of them listened but most of them just looked at me with mystery. I remember thinking that I wished there was more I could do to help them understand…

Now I am 36 years old and know with too much experience that you can’t explain something to someone enough times for them to want to understand it. Jesus will never force Himself on anyone and we were designed with free will so that we can always choose to reject or accept God’s love.

Financial planning is not that much different in the sense that many of the answers are right in front of us, but they are really hard to understand if you didn’t grow up in a home that taught them regularly.

A Financial Plan is a very personal thing, but every person needs one.

I have learned personal financial planning very slowly and painfully over the past 17 years since I became a Christian. One of the first things I learned from going to church was about tithing and debt. Debt was bad, and tithing was good. That was all I understood for a while. At 22, after I got married, I became an insurance agent. That experience taught me about losses and coverages and some about investments. A few years later I worked in banking where I learned about loans, various account types, business banking, mortgages, stocks, bonds, mutual funds, IRA’s, Roth IRA’s, SEP’s, SIMPLES, Credit Cards, Social Security… and so much more.

I always felt so humbled at the fact that people were coming to me for financial advice. Even though I was trained, and was learning every day, I felt that I owed my clients a duty to know as much as I could know for the purpose of helping them. School became very important to me. I took one class at a time whenever I could, until I finally finished my bachelor’s degree in 2014. I immediately enrolled at Colorado Christian University’s master’s in business program: MBA. I graduated in 2016. Then knowing I wanted to master this financial planning topic and also learn how to teach it: I received my CFP designation and my master’s in education both in Spring 2018.

This online business exists for the purpose of the vision and mission set forth! As much of the products and services that I can offer for FREE I will. Every dollar that comes in through any sales from this business: 25-50% will go directly to the faith based non-profit work that is being done in our very own communities.
